Science & Outdoor Education Specialist

"People retain 10% of what they hear, 30% of what they read, 50% of what they see, but 90% of what they do" (Veverka)

With over 50 years team experience in outdoor learning and education for young people, Sc.out.ed can support  and deliver hands-on science and outdoor lessons that will engage and inspire pupils, widen their knowledge and understanding.

Sc.out.ed works with schools across the North East to deliver CPD to teachers, offering first hand experiences that can be used as a stimulus for further work. Sessions are closely linked to the new National Curriculum programmes of study but we can also tailor activities to meet your learning objectives.

As well as sessions delivered in schools, Sc.out.ed deliver Forest Schools sessions,  working in partnership with Durham University at Durham Botanic Gardens and Northumberland College at Kirkley Hall,  in their mature woodlands. Forest Schools sessions can be adapted to your school grounds.

By working in partnership with Moor House Adventure Centre we offer exciting Outdoor & Adventurous Activities to help meet the needs of the PE curriculum

A hands on science day, or activities that take literacy outdoors, history with the Stone Age and World War II, after school activities, PPA cover, support with school grounds development and bespoke CPD training are all available.

Programme Summaries

CPD Summaries

"My mother made me a scientist without ever intending to. Every other mother would ask her child after school, 'so, did you learn anything today?' But not my mother, she would say, 'did you ask a good question today?' That difference – asking good questions – made me become a scientist" (Isaac)

Sc.out.ed can provide specialist training to your staff to develop skills and confidence. The training equips teachers and support staff with ideas that will allow for a creative and exciting approach to science lessons and activities in your school grounds.
