World War 2

The World War 2 and Survival programme introduces children to how people lived and survived during this period of history. They will experience examples of some of the foods that were rationed and how they were prepared and cooked through 'hands-on' demonstrations and also discover the importance of survival skills!

The session is brought to life using the real life experiences of local hero Flying Officer (F/O) Les Hood from Seaham. We show how he used the fundamentals of survival in a life or death situation. On one mission over France F/O Hoods' plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire and his pilot gave the order to abandon the aircraft.....
